We can also see common sights of youngsters studying and doing their assignmnents in groups at fast-food restaurants and libraries.

  • About Me

Being once a rather weak student in my early Primary school days, I was often so nervous and demoralised by the stagnant results despite large amount of effort put into my work and revision. Then just one year before my PSLE, I found myself a very caring and effective tutor who helped me improve my results tremendously, making a big leap to the 'A'-Grade. This motivates me in believing that with the right study method, motivation and perseverance; and of course my parents' trust, I CAN ALSO DO IT.

Today, I have been teaching as an ex-sch teacher, a current MOE Flexi-Adjunct teacher in various Primary schools at times and home-tutor for almost 13 years. I always aim to connect with my students and motivating and caring their emotional aspect alongside with my teaching. I believe that only through mutual understanding and trust than would the student want to put in their utmost effort willingly, working with the teacher-friend and feeling comfortable to ask questions. In addition, being a once weak student myself has helped me emphathise how students feel, as well as to be able to anticipate their common misconceptions and mistakes made.

In all, students and parents can look forward to productive and caring lessons conducted in groups, and in a comfortable and conducive environment, just like your home.

    Passion & Experiences

Teaching is truely interesting and challenging as we see students of various backgrounds, learning styles and characters. Personally, I'm especially motivated to guide very weak students and see them improve and grow lessons after lessons.

Usually, I would work on my students' attitude and foundation of the concepts first to help them make slight improvements and gain some confidence. Following this would be to set higher yet achieveable targets. My greatest achievement when I was a full-fledged teacher was to guide one of my students, commonly known to be rebellious and uncontrollable, improve from U-grade to Band 1 in his exam, after 2 months of intensive supervision and character monitoring. This achievement is no doubt largely contributed by his intelligence by nature. I had simply made him calm his mind, see the situation he'd been in all the previous times, and believe that he has the potential to achieve, alongside with my teaching of the required concepts and syllabus.

Currently, one of my many Upper Primary students whom I have been teaching for 2 years is steadily getting Band 2 and improving progressively. She was once always getting Band 4 for most of her subjects. I adopted the same methodology upon her after seeing that her obstacle lies with her negativity and poor attitude towards her studies and teachers. Hence after constant motivational and hard counselling, this student finally trusted me and cooperated. Now, we have pleasant and efficient lessons.

In all, I have the confidence in playing my role well as a caring motivating teacher who helps your child see the trust and care from the teacher; and to believe in his/her own potential then succeed - Nature and nurture are both required for success.

  • FAQs

Is the environment comfortable peaceful and conducive?
Yes it is. It will be in my living room and at the dining table. It is also brightly lit and quiet with no disruptions.

Are there kids in the house?
Yes there is but be rest assured that she will be away from the study area and preoccupied with her own stuff.

How will the lessons be carried out?
I will usually go through the topic of the day with the group as a whole for the first portion of the lesson. There will be discussion and interaction so as to maximise learning and for me to observe their level of understanding.

I will then assign some written work for them to do - a worksheet to test and gauge the mastery and understanding of the topic taught earlier, and some questions from their individual assessment book. At this point, students may ask me other subject related questions of their own or from their school. If questions are found to be very interesting creative or good, we will share and expose all the other students to them. In this way, we learn from one another and increase exposure to various types of questions and idea.

By the end of each lesson, the mini test given will be reviewed and any misconceptions will be rectified immediately. This immediate feedback is very important in the learning process.

In the event that I observe certain learning characteristics, I will also provide feedback to the parents either by phone or notebook so as to increase parental involvement and update thus optimizing results. Following this I may get students to do individualised activities or revision homework based on the learning needs.

What if the student or tutor can't make it for the lesson?
You may give me a call prior to the lesson. There will be no make-up lesson for the missed lesson. However, there will be no effect on the fee as the fee is based on every 4 lessons attended. Vice versa, if I am unwell to have lesson for that day, the next lesson will be on the following scheduled day.

Do the parents need to monitor the number of lessons and payment due date?
We will take the hassle out of you. There will be a log for your child to sign in when they come for lessons. And prior to the payment due date, we will inform your child.

Will there be extra revision during the exam period?
I will check and try my best to schedule for it as far as possible. This may be done either by scheduling extra tuition days or extended lesson duration.
